Our Background

Meet the Owner of the Bookshop Darwin, Anna Savvas. Anna is a passionate reader who is always ready with a friendly welcome for those who share her love of books.
Here in Darwin’s only locally-owned, independent new bookstore, Anna and her well-read staff take pride in keeping up with the latest releases, offering reading tips to accommodate all tastes, and finding second hand and out-of-print books from across the world.

Wander the aisles and get lost in a wide range of books, everything from children’s classics, to books on Aboriginal culture and Territory history. Or stock up on some tempting holiday reading!
  • Looking for a gift? Try our gift vouchers; Lonely Planet travel goods; exquisite journals; board games and puzzles; or talking books.
  • Want to escape the bustle of lunch hour or the pressures of work?  We can help find the perfect novel to escape in, and there are plenty of local coffee shops where you can sit and enjoy your new treasure.
In 2014 the Bookshop Darwin moved to a new home in Darwin’s Smith Street Mall, where we have a better range than ever!

As a city retailer, Anna and her team are passionate about supporting local and bringing a world of books to their community. The Bookshop Darwin regularly host book launches, author signings, and children’s events – follow the Facebook page for up-to-date event schedules!
Manager, Sean Guy
We are very proud to announce that our Manager Sean Guy is now an author! He currently has two novels available to purchase: The Firebringer (an urban fantasy) and Malediction: The Cursed Play (a Shakespearean whodunnit)!
As part of their community focus, the Bookshop Darwin also offers special discounts to book clubs; supplies schools and libraries; and sends regular newsletters to fellow bookworms.

But don’t take our word for it, come and meet the team!
